National Signing Day at Exeter (Part 1)
22 athletes going on to play and study at the collegiate level are honored
On April 29th, Exeter Township High School celebrated National Signing Day for 22 athletes that will go on to college to both study and play their sport. It’s always an amazing day, and I was proud as can be to be invited.
Athlete bios were read by Exeter Athletic Director Tom Legath, High School Principal Tom Campbell, and Assistant Principals Frank Vecchio and Matt Bauer.
Samantha Baer, daughter of Vicki Ravert and Erik Baer, will be attending York College of Pennsylvania to study forensic chemistry and continue playing volleyball. She was named first team all-division in her senior year as a libero. She was also named to the PVCA all-district team 3. She holds the all time record for most digs in a single season at Exeter at 385 digs. She was captain of the volleyball team for the 2024 season. She helped lead her team to their first county title in 5 years. She has earned a gold eagle each semester of high school. She is a member of the National Honor Society and earned an excellence in science and math award. She was also chosen to be a junior marshal her junior year. Sami would like to thank her parents and coaches for helping her get to where she is today. Good luck, Sami!
Hayley Brown, daughter of Ryan and Joanna Brown, will be attending Misericordia University and pursue a doctorate in physical therapy. Hayley has been swimming since 6 years old for 2 teams and was a varsity swimmer all four years of high school on a third team, and with that she plans to continue her athletic career at Misericordia. She spends most of her time swimming, lifting, working, and hanging out with family and friends. Hayley would like to thank his parents and family for supporting her and giving her so many opportunities she wouldn’t have had without them. She would also like to thank her older sister and brother, and best friends for always being there for her. Good Luck, Halyley!
Taylor Brownback, daughter of Cheryl and Jeffrey Brownback, will be attending Pennsylvania College of Technology. Taylor was a 2 year varsity starting goalkeeper. She recorded 7 shutouts her junior year and 9 shutouts her Senior year. She was named All Division Honorable mention as a junior and to the all division team as a senior. Good Luck, Taylor!
Evan B Carl son of Lois and the late Barry Carl, will be continuing his academic and athletic career at West Chester University where he will be a part of the Golden Ram Men's swim team. Evan has been swimming year round since age 6. He has participated in 13 years of YMCA swimming, USA swimming, Berks county summer swimming, and in the last 4 years added a successful high school swimming career. Evan has been a National YMCA qualifier for the last 4 years, and has qualified and competed at the PIAA state Meet in 23, 24 and 2025. Evan is also an accomplished Water-polo player, finishing out his career 20th in the state in 2024.
Academically Evan has been following the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) engineering program, and plans to continue in that field with the BioMedical Engineering Major at WCU. Evan would like to thank his parents, family, friends, coaches, and teachers. They have all played an invaluable role in Evans success, now and for the future. Good Luck Evan!
Amelia Fanning, daughter of Wayne and Kate Fanning, will be attending Montclair State University, continuing her swimming career while studying psychology. She is the captain of the Exeter Swim and Dive Team as well as the Exeter Water polo and a member of the Reading YMCA Club team. She is a 4 time district qualifier for Exeter and 3 time state team member. She also is a 3 time state qualifier for Reading YMCA Swim Team and a 3 time state medalist. Academically, Amelia is an honor student and has received high honors for her academic performance. Amelia would like to thank her parents, teammates, coaches, and her family for helping her get where she is today. She is thankful for all the support that has been given to her and is excited for the next chapter of her life. Good luck, Amelia!
Tyler Flanders, son of Michael and Angila Flanders, will be attending Bloomsburg University to study sports management and play football. He was also on the basketball team up until his senior year. Junior year, Tyler finished 2nd in the league for sacks. In addition, led the team in tackles for loss. In his senior year, Tyler showed his versatility by being a two way starter and playing outside the box on defense. During Tyler’s career at the high school he has also volunteered during the Exeter Games and is part of the mentor program at Reiffton. Tyler would like to thank his parents, family, friends, and coaches for getting him to where he is today. Good luck, Tyler!
Casey Gerhart, son of Dennis and Rachel Gerhart, will be continuing his academic and athletic career at Misericordia University where he will major in Physical Therapy and play football. In 2024, he was named 1st Team All-County Defense, 1st Team Berks County Big Schools Defense, and 2nd Team Lancaster-Lebanon All-Star Defense. He was also named to the All-Academic Teams for both Lancaster-Lebanon and Berks County Leagues. His senior year, he served as team co-captain and finished the season having led the team with 101 tackles. He will be representing Exeter Twp Football at the Tri-County All-Star Game in May. In addition to being a 3-year starter in football, he is also a 2-year starter in lacrosse. Academically, Casey has received Silver and Gold Honor Roll Awards throughout high school. Gabriana Holmes, Daughter of Tiffany Koch and Geovonne Holmes. Continuing her academic and athletic career at Newberry College to play lacrosse. Planning to study exercise science with a track of Pre-Physical Therapy. She was named the defensive player of the year last season. She has been an honor roll student every year and maintained a 4.0 GPA. She gained a golden eagle every year. She would love to thank her parents for always supporting her and her coaches for pushing her to try her hardest every day. Good luck, Gabby!
Charles Jacoby, son of Kristie and Travis Jacoby, will be attending Wheaton college as an undecided major and will be playing water polo. Charles was named to the Western Conference honorable mention team and All-Berks honorable mention team. Charles was named the most improved player this year as he scored 75 goals which was 4 times his career total prior to his senior year. Charles was also Captain of the water polo team his senior year and plays club water polo for Norco and Colts. He also is a swimmer and has been a member of the swim team since his freshman year. Charles also plays lacrosse for Exeter and is on the varsity team. Academically, Charles has received the Gold and Silver Eagle honor roll. Molly Lubenow, daughter of Amy and Brian Lubenow, will be attending Arcadia University to study PreK-4 Early Childhood Education and wrestle on the Inaugural Women’s Wrestling team. Molly was named to the Berks County Wrestling All-Conference Team in 2025, was a Berks County Champion, and was Exeter’s first female PIAA state qualifier in 2025. Prior to girls wrestling gaining PIAA status, she finished 6th in the state in her freshman year and was a state qualifier her sophomore year. She finished her high school career with 71 wins. Molly has been a captain of Exeter’s Girls Wrestling team for 4 years and was named to the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches All-Academic Team. She also plays field hockey and lacrosse and is a captain of the lacrosse team this year. Academically, Molly has achieved Gold Eagle Honor Roll throughout high school and is a member of the National Honor Society. Molly would like to thank her coaches for dedicating their time and effort and her family for always supporting her. Good luck Molly!
