Bell denigrating citizens AGAIN
The Bell bullying finds a new target, this time an ordinary citizen who's done nothing but express an opinion
Illegally appointed (IA) Exeter Township Supervisor and constant bully George Bell is at it again, using his often practiced bullying skills to yet again attack a citizen who had the temerity to voice his opinion online.
I started getting screenshots from people of Bell attacking Exeter resident Trevor Gilmore for expressing an opinion on IA Bell’s tenure as a properly AND illegally appointed Supervisor. Apparently, we are not allowed to weigh in on IA Bell’s job performance unless it’s a hearty thumbs up for the thin skinned, heavy spending thug of a legislator. Gilmore then reached out to me directly to make me aware of the issue.
Gilmore started the row by posting that IA Bell was doing a terrible job and “ruining” the township, a not uncommon opinion in Exeter. This didn’t sit well with IA Bell. He responded on both his personal AND Supervisor FB pages with a string of vitriol directed at Gilmore that for any other person would be shocking to the system. But not for IA Bell.
In this post, IA Bell is attempting to shame Gilmore for having an opinion and reporting it to the township, who did NOTHING. Gilmore had a conversation with BOS Chair Mohammad Mohammad, and Township Manager Bill Heim, but no action of any kind was taken. But it shook IA Bell up enough to get him to challenge Gilmore “man to man” via time honored internet tough guy rules, and not getting “man to man” himself. IA Bell removed this a short time later, as he did with all of these posts.
Heim provided the following when I inquired on this situation: “Township staff did speak with Mr. Gilmore. I won’t be able to provide any detail on this situation.”
This one was posted from out of nowhere to antagonize. Is this the behavior you want from a township official?
Here, IA Bell calls Gilmore out by invoking the name of his deceased parents, whom Gilmore took on a life changing role of moving in with and caring for them in their final years when they were ill. IA Bell needed to denigrate him for being a good son. Is THIS the behavior you want in a township official?
Here, IA Bell flexes his imaginary muscles by calling Gilmore’s ex-wife into the equation. Is THIS the behavior you want in a township official?
Finally, here IA Bell flexes his imaginary muscles, once again calling Gilmore out, while not actually doing anything himself. Is THIS the behavior you want in a township official?
This routine of the internet tough guy without actually facing anyone is a hallmark of the badass IA Bell. He did it a few months ago to fellow Supervisor Jack Piho because Piho wanted more discussion on the pending budget. We have seen numerous internet tough guy attacks on many other Exeter citizens, with the commentary removed shortly thereafter.
IA Bell’s most bellicose and disgusting attacks have come at meetings, where, as Board chair, he yelled at elderly ladies, threw at least two members of the public out for speaking up against the thug tactics of the board he helmed, screaming at Russ Maggazu for asking for help with a problem, suing two members of the public with the full force of government and violating their 1st Amendment rights, and many other disreputable actions.
One of the attacks was against Exeter resident Donna Merritt, as detailed here.
His gaggle of cronies then weighed in as well.
Apparently it’s “fun” to denigrate citizens while you’re a public servant. Merritt “trashed” him. To IA Bell, “trashing” means “speaking your mind”, a violation for which you must be punished.
Gilmore, a plumber by trade, lifelong Exeter resident, and president of the Reiffton Fire Company Social Quarters, said about the situation, “I didn’t see the first one (screenshot) until 10:30 at night, so I didn't really look into anything else. But then the next morning is when I had a bunch of people that I know sending me all kinds of screenshots saying, ‘What the hell is going on?’ That's when this all started. But I guess I thought I was doing the right thing (in contacting township officials about Bell’s terrible behavior), because he’s a public official, public servant, talking like this to a resident, a lifelong resident. I mean, I don't think that that's okay, but, you know, I understand he's got the same rights as I do. But when he attacks your dead parents and calls you a coward when you can't even see those posts to comment on them due to him having me blocked on everything, yeah, that makes him a child. So who's the coward and who's acting like a four year old? Like he said in the most recent one, he wants to talk man to man. Wow. I don't know where he lives. I don't know how to get in contact with him. I don't know anything. So how am I going to be man to man with him? Because he's not going to say this to my face. He tried to pull this crap before, years ago, and when I saw him face to face, he wanted to kiss my ass and apologize to me. So this is kind of funny because it's a 60 year old man trying to act like a badass. And it's sad too, because he's a 60 year old man that's acting like a complete idiot. So all the stuff he's saying about me, I’m not so sure he's talking about me and not himself. Because he's acting like all these things that he's saying I am. It’s disappointing.”
Gilmore went back and forth with himself about whether to make this a public issue, because he’s seen the way that IA Bell and Exeter Township goes after citizens who dissent. Both Dave Hughes and I have found out how that goes. Lawsuits are the order of the day by this group. One cannot blame Gilmore for his hesitancy, when you total up the body count by this thug and his cronies. But credit to Trevor, he saw it as too important to shrink from the responsibility to tell the public about IA Bell’s lousy behavior.
Is this what you want from a public official? Is this the behavior that makes you proud? For a Supervisor to repeatedly denigrate a member of the community who heads an organization that enables the local volunteer fire department, police department, schools and sports organizations in the area to do their good work, through monetary donations and other means?
I suggest you consider all of this as you step into the voting booth in May.
